Dr. Mark D. Ogletree is a university professor, marriage and family therapist, husband, father, and grandfather. As his children were leaving the nest, he and his wife, Janie, often thought, “Did we teach them that principle?” or “Did we ever cover that?” or “How will they know how to do that?”
Mark and Janie came to realize that not everything children need to know could be covered in 18 short years. Mark decided that he needed to create an instruction manual for his own children, based on the idea that, as parents, he and Janie may have never discussed some important material for the exam of life! Or, if they did discuss these important principles, their children may have forgotten them.
After being inspired by Jackson Brown’s Life’s Little Instruction Book many years ago, Mark wanted to create a customized instruction booklet for his own children that would also be relevant to many individuals, couples, and families. This book shares practical wisdom on many topics: from bargains to careers; from grit to money management; and from parenting children to sports. Babysitters are Cheaper than Divorces has something in it for every stage of life.
